OUR TREES

Since 1992, we have had our own tree shop.   This has given us the ability to fit virtualLy any horse with any style of saddle.  As a horseman, as well as a saddlemaker, I  understand completely that fit and comfort relates directly to you horse's performance. When you order your saddle, you will need to let us know the type of horse(s) you ride (send us photos - side profile and a shot from over the horses rump looking at the withers).  Also, give us any details with regards to any problems that you may currently be having.  If need be, we can measure an individual horse.   Please telephone for a consultation.

Our trees are made from old growth fir (tight grained, strong and light).  A tree consists of five basic parts:

a)  two bars - which rest upon the horses back - these bars will also determine how narrow the seat can be built
b)  the fork - which will determine the finished shape of the front of the saddle
c)  the cantle - which will determine how "deep" the seat is, and
d)  the horn - which can made any way to suit the individual's particular needs.

We have designed our bars to give more bearing surface against the horse, while not impeding the horse's movement.  We will use hard wood in the forks of our roping trees to make them a little stronger.

DETAILS:
TREE DIMENSIONS (pictured below):

1.     SEAT LENGTH.
2.     FORK WIDTH.
3.     FRONT GULLET WIDTH.
4.     FRONT GULLET HEIGHT.
5.     REAR FORK GULLET WIDTH.
6.     HORN HEIGHT.
7.    HORN CAP DIAMETER.
8.     DEGREE OF BARS.
9.     CANTLE WIDTH.
10.   CANTLE DISH.

For a more accurate tree fit, we utilize the width of the gullet at the back of the fork.  By changing the width of this measurement along with the angle of the bars, we can fit almost any horse.  To further adjust tree fit, we can change the rocker and twist in the bars.

PLEASE CONSULT WITH US TO GET THE CORRECT FIT.
