All of our riggings, whether they're in a show saddle or in the heaviest of work saddles, are cut from prime leather and are built strong to last. Keep in mind that the rigging position changes the point where the cinch lies on the horse. For heavy work and performance horses, most horsemen prefer the more forward positions, short of placing it so far ahead that it causes galling at the horse's elbow (normally seen on steep shouldered or fat horses). "If the tree fits, moving the rigging changes the cinch placement. It should not move the saddle."
CONVENTIONAL - full double
| Dee Ring - works well in the 15/16 or full position, but restricts stirrup leather freedom if it is moved back. Advantages: this rigging has the least amount of leather under the thigh, which allows close contact. Brass or Stainless Steel. |
CONVENTIONAL - 5/8 single
| Similar to the Dee Ring, but can be built in any position. However, this style will be a little bulkier under the leg. Brass. |
FLAT PLATE - 3/4 double
| Very popular with working cowboys. This rigging can be built in any position. This is a smooth rigging and allows lots of freedom. Brass. |
IN-SKIRT - 7/8 double
| Popular with Trainers - can be built in any position, with 7/8 being the most popular. We usually build this with a stainless steel dee, built into the skirt, allowing lots of stirrup leather freedom. | | In terms of the "closest contact" (the least amount of leather under your leg), the types rate as follows: #1 DEE TYPE (15/16 or full) #2 IN-SKIRT #3 FLAT PLATE #4 O RING |
